Localization Editing
Whether you work as a translator, or you work with them, you’re probably well aware of how difficult it is to switch from language to language. As your localization editor, I can help make sure each brick in that cultural bridge is sturdy and beautiful. I specialize in Japanese copy, but I am more than happy to work with translations of other languages too.
Depending on your needs, I will:
Review your translated copy for accuracy, fluency, and flow. Depending on your vision, I will make suggestions regarding the extent of changes made to suit the target audience. This will change per project, as some projects benefit from a level of authenticity in translated works, while others necessitate a cultural departure in favor of clarity or contextual understanding.
If the original copy is Japanese, I can review and compare the translated text to ensure accuracy. I will also make suggestions or edits where appropriate.
Frequently Asked Questions
“Do you provide translation services?”
Occasionally, I will accept translation projects for Japanese to English content. If you have something in mind, feel free to send me a message via the form on my Contact Me page. I’m happy to consider your project and see if we can work something out. Alternatively, if I am unable to take on your project, I can put you in touch with other translators.
“Do you edit translations from other languages?”
As long as the project has been translated into English, I can lend you my expertise. In these cases, I will not be able to compare the translation to the original language. Thus, I will note certain areas that may require a second look and request that you or your translator review the text.
“Can you edit subtitles/scanlations/video games/etc.?”
Generally yes! It depends on the programs required for editing. For example, I can edit scanlations in Clip Studio Paint, but not Photoshop. Let me know what you need and we’ll work something out together.
“Can you edit a sample of my project before I agree to a contract?”
Yes! Depending on the length of the project, I can offer a sample edit so you can see if my editing style will suit you. However, if the sample is not representative of the full project, I reserve the right to reach out and renegotiate our terms. If we are unable to reach a new agreement, I will refund your initial deposit.
“Will you sign a non-disclosure agreement?”
I will never share any part of your project without your permission. I have an NDA I can provide if needed; I also have many protections written into my editorial contract, which I’m happy to discuss in more detail.
“Do you offer discounts?”
Occasionally, I will run promotions for my services at a discounted rate. More information will be posted during those campaign periods. If you’re interested, go ahead and send me a message via the contact form, and I can add your preferred email to a mailing list. (Don’t worry, I won’t spam you!)

Rates
I charge on a per-project basis. Rates will vary depending on the scope of the project and the depth of editing required. I am happy to discuss your needs and your budget during our free consultation, and I will do my best to put together the perfect package for you. I require a 50% deposit before beginning each project, with the rest to be received upon project completion. Once I receive the final payment, I’ll send over your materials within 24 hours.
